Goodbye Gambit

Schardein's House O' Madness is a little smaller and a lot sadder today. We said goodbye to Gambit last night after a rough day and a trip to the veterinary E.R. He was our old man dog, around 17 years old, half greyhound and (we think) half lab, and he was just the best, sweet boy. He used to sing along with the Jeopardy theme. He would howl like crazy when it came on, then stop and look at my mom, who said his singing was beautiful. Then he would start howling again.

He had been fading for a couple of years, with ear, throat, and neurological problems, as well as arthritis. We kept him as comfortable as we could and gave him lots of love, and he was a good boy right up till the end. My heart is broken, but h is free now. We'll miss you, puppy.
